The chilly plantations in Thekkady were a pleasant change from the scotching heat in Chennai and I call it my happy place because I really liked the vibes I got after revisiting this picture. It’s a beautiful place and a must visit to everyone who likes and enjoys the peace and calm of nature. – Thekkady, Kerala.

Standing tall got a new name? Boundaries never did matter for trees, right? – Christmas at Chennai City Centre, 2012.

Swift movements are sometimes the essence of Kathak, a famous dance form in India. The change lies in seeing how quickly their steps change and the choreography takes a new turn within seconds.

NAILED IN TIME

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Grid.”

When tessellation and grids come together at a point in history, it makes you stop and take a picture. What’s really fascinating is how much attention artisans, rulers and people paid to the minute details. Doors today seem to lack that intricacy and uniqueness, but back then, the door itself had an identity. Presenting to you, the Daulat Khana. – Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

WOMEN OF THE SOIL

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Connected.”

Picture 081

As you sow, so shall you reap. Quite literally in their case where farming is their only source of income. What they sow, is what will ultimately earn them a meal, a saree, a house. They are so connected to their field, that they spend a significant amount of their time in laborious work, hoping to get a better yield.

A good day is a day that has a little of everything and everyone I like and love. Art, history and culture is a part of this. I love visiting new places and seeing the historical monuments and paintings of the city or town.

A good day is also a calm day. A time when I am alone and just absorbed in the calmness and peace of nature. It brings inner peace and closure in many ways. Whether it is just watching misty mountains or watching the incessant beach waves, the feeling is unparalleled.

A good day is a day well spent with family and friends who you appreciate and whose company you love. They can make you smile in a jiffy and your problems are no longer existent.

Finally, a good day is when you are at a job doing what you love. A day filled with colour. A day filled with a little of everything that makes you happy. These pictures simply show the days I felt really happy, visiting new places and living each moment as it came.

CORRIDOR CREEPS

IMG_8837

There is absolutely nothing creepy in this picture. But corridors in general, are creepy. When it is really late in the night, this tiny part of a building is a scary stretch to walk into. From man-made calamities to camping days, dark corridors have seemed lonesome to me. It is creepy in a different sense. More of perceptive creepiness that creeps into you when you get scared. Did I confuse you? Well, this post was meant to. – Shot at Thekkady

THE BEAUTIFUL STORY OF RAIN

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Beneath Your Feet.”

IMG_3557

Beneath my feet. I tried hard to find a picture which had my feet as a part of it. But I couldn’t find any. Then I happened to stumble upon this picture. A pool of water that collected on the street before my house. I took this picture from my balcony. It was beautiful. The weather was cold, chilly winds blew and autorickshaws and cars splashed water on either side. Women held up their sarees in one hand and the umbrella in the other. It was nice to see how dogs ran to the nearest shelter and did a little dance to dry themselves. Beneath my feet lay a beautiful story of a typical rainy day. – Shot in Chennai.
